CHOICE Review

Brooke and Mills (consultants) succinctly argue that successful marketplace innovation and product design are the result of an organizational culture emphasizing a dynamic integration of all its inherent competencies. The book's 19 short chapters are divided into four sections: "Learning New Products," "Moving On--Successful Developments," "Centers of Excellence," and "Where Do We Go from Here?" Topics covered include product branding, cross-industry associations, customer-led creativity, government regulation, product development committees, research and development initiatives, risk and failure, strategic alliances, and the service industries. An interesting writing style and excellent British case studies enhance the book's value and provide insight into the methodology of new product development. The book concludes with references, a name list, and topic index. Although oriented toward business professionals, this book will interest all business majors.
