Booklist Review

Editors Cook (reference and instruction librarian and professor at Shippensburg University, Pennsylvania) and Farmer (professor and coordinator of librarianship at California State University, Long Beach) and the contributing authors have done an excellent job crafting a book that meets the needs of twenty-first-century academic librarians, who need to produce research-based assessments as part of their accountability within the university institution. The book is divided into three parts. Part 1 gives background information on theory and process and includes an annotated bibliography of scholarly resources. Part 2 provides examples of qualitative-research methodologies used in academic library settings. Part 3 illustrates library issues that can be addressed using qualitative research. A timely tool and an essential purchase for academic libraries.--Crosser, Cynthi. Copyright 2010 Booklist
