520 3 _aEthics and morality should be basic human values that everyone embraces, but we also have people who let themselves bend their ethics for greed, ambition, risk to win among other behavioral traits. The financial crisis of 2006-2010 could be considered one of the most important events that this century has seen in terms of a lack of ethical behavior, especially ethics and the decision making of top-level management in investment firms. Managers need to be aware that their decisions not only affect them and their company, but they can have a negative effect on a society as a whole. Cases presented in the current research lead us to conclude how unethical decisions resulted in big financial losses, lay-off of employees, and even distrust from society. There is a just need for an ethical reform as part of a proactive action plan to stop the recurrence of another financial crisis (Thomas, 2011). The research presents a collection of secondary data about the executive management of the different key players in the financial crisis of 2006-2010. The data gathered were limited to the specific active years of the crisis from 2006-2010. In this financial crisis, there were a few firms that rose above others in their impact on the United States economy. Some were bought by others firms, others went bankrupt, and surprisingly the rest survived. A selection of a few key players in the financial crisis of 2006-2010 like Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch, AIG, Countrywide, and Goldman Sachs was done to create them into case studies to be used as a base for the profile that is the ultimate goal of the dissertation. The profile of the financial decision-makers in the financial crisis in the United States dating from the years of 2006-2010 is composed of powerful Chief Executive Officers, Chief Financial Officers, and Chief Operating Officers that behaved in an extremely risky way, leading them to believe that the decisions made were flawless. From their perspective, these officers were doing nothing wrong in their decisions. They did what everyone in Wall Street was doing, which is risking everything you have to make double or triple profit compared to the initially investment. The problem was that they were using another people’s money to get to what they wanted which was a big payoff at the end.
