| 520 | _aThe land use planning systems of the world are remarkably similar. Yet real urban problems crime, drug, abuse, unequality, alination - are not easily solved by a traditional strategic planning process. Planning regimes are therefore under constant pressure to adjust, but often with a lack of knowledge of how things might be done better. Even though each regime arises in a cultural milieu, international trends can be spotted and best practices discerned. This work is schlarly and emotional, revealing a grat love of cities and expressing a call for the development of revelant, more grounded, land use planning. Leslie A. Stein is Adjunct Professor of Urban Planning at the University of Sydney, Sydney School of Architecture, Design and Planning. He was recently Senior Fellow at the Global Center for Environmental Legal Studies at Pace University in New York and Visiting Scholar at the Sabin Center for Climate Change Law at Columbia University. He was Chief Counsel to the Sydbey Metropolitan Stategy and his books include Principles of Panning Law. Professor Stein is also a certified psychoanalyst and a graduate of the C.G. Jung Institute of New York -- | ||
