520 _aLaFever was active in New York City, principally, in the pre-Civil War era, and little has been written about him. The author was, at the writing of this book, an Associate Professor in the Department of Art at CCNY. He discusses each of LaFever's buildings from 1825 to1855 and includes pictures of thirty of the buildings still standing at that time. He also discusses the architect's destroyed work.
