CHOICE Review

Thirty-six faculty and experts present research and insights about the future of healthy aging. This work addresses this important issue by presenting a large quantity of diverse material. Part 1 focuses on science, e.g., delaying chronic illness, gene therapy. Part 2 focuses on education, e.g., expanding course content related to aging in health professionals' curricula. Part 3 focuses on financing; one chapter title uses "Simple, Cost-free Solution" in describing the author's theoretical approach to financing long-term care. This approach is as yet untested and would require major changes in public policy to initiate payment for such care. Part 4 focuses on self-care by encouraging Americans to practice healthy behaviors. The authors of this review include chapter bibliographies for further information about specific diets or exercises for clients to practice. Recommended for all levels. F. Taira formerly, Loyola University of Chicago
