Descripciones mejoradas de Syndetics:

A research guide for undergraduates, focusing on the main poets and poems that have become established as the canon of the Romantic movement. The poets are treated alphabetically and, after a listing of general works, their poems are also considered alphabetically. The works cited were selected for their nonspecialist nature and their availability in college libraries; articles in professional journals are not generally covered. CHOICE Review

The main portion of Aubrey's annotated bibliography covers the major English Romantic poets: Blake, Byron, Coleridge, Keats, Shelley, and Wordsworth. Eight minor writers, such as Hunt and Landor, are also included. Following an introductory essay, the critical annotations are arranged by poet, with general studies listed before works on individual poems. A short index to critics concludes the bibliography. This work by Aubrey (Maharishi International University) is similar in content to The English Romantic Poets: A Review of Research and Criticism, ed. by Frank Jordan (4th ed., 1985), and other bibliographies. Although Aubrey does exclude a few significant works, he redeems himself by including more recent works that appeared after the other bibliographies were published. Although Aubrey states that books are to be his main critical sources, he does include references to journal articles. In fact, more key journal articles would have benefited the bibliography. Double-checking the references would also have been helpful, as several publication dates and name spellings are in error. This tool in the "Magill Bibliographies" series is meant for undergraduates. It is not as essential as Jordan's but its more current sources make it a recommended purchase. -S. R. Moore, University of Southwestern Louisiana
