CHOICE Review

Selected papers from the International Conference organized and held by the State Committee for Science and Technical Progress of the People's Republic of Bulgaria jointly with UNESCO, the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA), the Lyudmila Zhivkova International Foundation, and the World Health Organization. Their theme is also the title of this collection. Primarily of interest to the college and university community, these papers include information regarding a beginning course in informatics and computer technology in Soviet schools, Japanese experience and trends in the introduction of computers in schools, myths and limits about children and computers, the future of electronic learning, problems facing Third World countries in the area of new information technologies and youth education, the microelectronics education program in the UK, the microcomputer as a teaching tool for handicapped children in Italy, Bulgaria's program for the introduction of computers in secondary schools, and issues and trends. These readings are very helpful in developing a broad understanding of international concerns and trends in computer education.-G.R. McMeen, University of Nevada, Reno
