Booklist Review

Based on the authors' experience, this volume offers an action plan for creating a business center within a public library to assist the business community, from the job seeker to the entrepreneur looking for industry data to gain a competitive edge. Following a discussion of the relationship between business services and the library's mission, chapters cover developing the collection, programming, marketing, networking, partnering, and funding. Photographs, sample floor plans, and sample handouts help illustrate the principles. Since libraries need to find and develop new customers, and small businesses often cannot support an in-house special library, the creation of business-library partnerships is beneficial for both. The book is recommended for its variety of ideas, ease of use, and positive plans for service.--Hogan, Patricia Copyright 2010 Booklist
