Descripciones mejoradas de Syndetics:

This necessary desk reference for every practicing spectroscopist represents the first definitive book written specifically to integrate knowledge about group frequencies in infrared as well as Raman spectra. In the spirit of previous classics developed by Bellamy and others, this volume has expanded its scope and updated its coverage. In addition to detailing characteristic group frequencies of compounds from a comprehensive assortment of categories, the book includes a collection of spectra and a literature search conducted to verify existing correlations and to determine ways to enhance correlations between vibrational frequencies and molecular structure. Particular attention has been given to the correlation between Raman characteristic frequencies and molecular structure.

CHOICE Review

Those who have used L. J. Bellamy's The Infrared Spectra of Complex Molecules (3rd ed., 1975) and N. B. Colthup et al., Introduction to Infrared and Raman Spectroscopy (3rd ed., 1990) will find this handbook a useful companion. It is intended as a reference for assistance in the interpretation of IR (infrared) and Raman spectra by group frequencies. With the inclusion of data from the literature through 1990, the authors have refined and confirmed original correlations found in Colthup's book and in F.R. Dollish et al., Characteristic Raman Frequencies of Organic Compounds (1974). The extensive data on Raman spectra was obtained using laser Raman spectroscopy. The theory and experimental conditions of spectral analysis have been omitted because there are detailed discussions in other books. The thorough and very lucid discussion of group frequencies has been divided into chapters of 16 classes of organic molecules. Tables of spectra-structure correlations have been included, and selected IR and Raman spectra have been used to complement the group frequencies discussion. An adequate bibliography accompanies each chapter. In spite of very poor reproduction of some spectra, this book should be in the library of anyone using infrared and/or Raman spectroscopy.
