Descripciones mejoradas de Syndetics:

Two thousand years ago the Roman architect Marcus Vitruvius Pollio wrote the ten books on architecture establishing the concept of the pattern book offering design principles and solutions that is still referred to in every architect's education. A Green Vitruvius is intended as a green pattern book for today. Now fully updated, this well established textbook provides advice suitable for undergraduate and post graduate students on the integration of sustainable practice into the design and construction process, the issues to be considered, the strategies to be adopted, the elements of green design and design evaluation within the process. Classic design elegance is found in the holistic clear solution.

CHOICE Review

Intended as a single-point general reference for architects and designers wishing to create sustainable buildings, A Green Vitruvius offers advice in the areas of energy and water inputs, materials, indoor air quality, and waste. The original edition, published nearly a dozen years ago, has been completely revised and updated to represent technological advances. What separates this four-part volume by Brophy (Univ. College Dublin) and Lewis (emer., UCD) from other works on sustainable design is its ease of use for those seeking answers to specific questions. One may choose the section on the design and construction process, or the ones on issues to be considered in green design, strategies to be adopted, or elements of green design. If the photographs and diagrams representing the concepts discussed in the text were a little larger, they would be more valuable. Despite this drawback, A Green Vitruvius appears to be one of the best books available for useful information about specific materials and their sustainable potential or shortcomings. Summing Up: Highly recommended. Lower-level undergraduates through professionals/practitioners; general readers. R. P. Meden Marymount University
