Although the book's title conveys to the reader that ``leisure'' will be discussed with reference to its role in the lives of the elderly, only one page is given to discussing leisure. Moreover, the authors equate leisure with free time, though the term ``leisure'' is actually much broader in nature. A more appropriate title would have used the term ``recreational activities'' instead. The discussion of recreation is flavored heavily with therapeutic references, thus paying little attention to the healthy elderly. This book would be a supplement, not a primary reference, for libraries or students. Without substantial background in recreation, the reader is not provided sufficient information to understand the elderly. The scope of the book is wide, but most topics are given only cursory attention. The one strong point of this book is that it does give program planners programming ideas.-B.E.
