Booklist Review

Author Lee believes that the most important part of being a librarian is mentoring and that mentoring isn't just another part of being a good employee. The premise of this book is that mentoring is essential to the continuing health of an institution. Senior employees sharing knowledge and experience with their younger colleagues will improve job skills and transform managers into stronger leaders. Offering both Lee's experience and her ideas about establishing a formal mentoring process in the library, this guide details the types of skills the mentor should have and techniques for development, education, and training; how to establish formal and informal mentoring, both in person and electronically; and the tools for working with staff and peers as well as interns, students, volunteers, and others who are interested in a library career.--Awe, Susa.
