"Este documental traza la vida de uno de los más grandes educadores de Puerto Rico: Jaime benítez. Durante toda su vida estuvo vínculado en la enseñanza, no obstante, su gran aportación como universitario fue la creación del departamento de estudios generales; un proyecto cultural que significó la presencia de figuras importantes en la poesía, la literatura, las ciencias, la música, el teatro y la aquitectura".
Director, Luis A. Aguayo; producer Francisco Zamora; script, Anamín Santiago, Arlene Cruz, Mario Alegre and Alex Santiago.
Host, Francisco Zamora; narrator, Cordelia González.
From the University of Puerto Rico, he dreamed and helped create a modern, prosper and educated Puerto Rico. Using only education and books as tools, Jaime Benítez helped the Country to get out from the poverty and brought it towards a path of hope and social change. He was chancellor of the biggest educational institution of Puerto Rico, member of the Constituent Convention of The Constitution of the Commonwealth and Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico in Washington, D.C. He defined the future of the University of Puerto Rico when, in the middle of the academic year, he decided to substitute English for Spanish in the courses that he taught. Against all opposition, he inaugurated in 1950 the School of Medicine, which provided Puerto Rico with a lots of professionals to cover the health care needs.
