CHOICE Review

This dictionary fills a niche in the literature of sport and exercise science. It provides definitions for terms from nine subdisciplines: adapted physical education, biomechanics, exercise physiology, motor control, motor development, motor learning, sport pedagogy, sport psychology, and sport sociology. It does not define terms related to dance, physical education, research design, sports medicine, statistics, or specific sports. Its definitions are brief (fewer than 100 words) but they are both clear and useful; they also include occasional illustrations. The dictionary also has useful "see," "see also," and "compare" cross-references; the writing level is appropriate for both students and practitoners. Highly recommended for any library whose patrons have need for a good dictionary in the sport and exercise sciences. -T. A. Tollman, University of Nebraska at Omaha
