"Fundamentals of Renewable Energy Processes deals with the fundamental mechanisms and processes that underpin energy management and form common elements of all energy process courses. This text contains the technical detail necessary to understand the engineering principles that govern renewable energy application at many different levels. Organized according to the main forms of energy - heat engines, hydrogen energy, energy from the sun, and wind and water energy - with an introductory chapter of basic energy terms, this is the most comprehensive text for engineering students. From fuel cells, electrolyzers and processes for hydrogen production to biomass and windmills, the author thoroughly examines all aspects of renewable energy processes."--BOOK JACKET.

CHOICE Review

This third edition (2nd ed., CH, Dec'09, 47-2026; 1st ed., CH, Jan'06, 43-2819) of a standard energy text is an updated and improved version, which will be very helpful to serious students in this rapidly advancing field. Like its predecessor, the large volume is divided into four parts: "Heat Engines," "The World of Hydrogen," "Energy from the Sun," and "Wind and Water." Two chapters, "Nuclear Energy" and "Storage of Energy," have been added to the last section, and the new edition is some 40 pages longer. Da Rosa (emer., Stanford Univ.), an internationally recognized expert in the field, includes key introductory material with the technical detail needed to understand the engineering principles that govern renewable energy applications, making the work suitable for core energy courses. Clear theory, physical examples, and end-of-chapter questions will prompt students to apply the theory to practical cases. References follow each chapter; extensive index. Summing Up: Recommended. Students of all levels, researchers/faculty, and professionals. J. C. Comer emeritus, Northern Illinois University
