CHOICE Review

The editors have attempted a comprehensive investigation of a long-neglected juncture of two larger topics: adolescence, and death and dying. The 17 chapters cover not only the expected issues of terminal illness, suicide, and bereavement, but also themes such as music, abortion, threat of nuclear war, sudden infant death syndrome and teenage parents, risk taking, fear of aging, and death education. Religion was the only potentially relevant topic that was neglected. Contributors include a philosopher and a theologian, although the remainder are practitioners involved in some way with adolescents: psychologists, social workers, educators, or other counselors. Most chapters give practical suggestions for intervention. Corr and McNeil are to be further congratulated for good section introductions and a comprehensive subject index. The last section gives multimedia resources for death educators. A useful and informative book for undergraduate libraries, but also appropriate at the graduate level.-T.L. Brink, College of Notre Dame
