Library Journal Review

Relying on some 300 interviews with Hispanic- and Anglo-Americans in ``leadership positions,'' this journalistic work clearly delineates Hispanic-American differences from the traditional immigrant experience, highlighting their dream of ``assimilating and remaining separate.'' Such topics as immigration and illegal aliens, federal government policies and practices, regionalism, and religion are handled well, with especially perceptive observations about bilingual education and the Hispanic market. Weyr provides a very positive view of the role and prospects of this fast-growing minority. Highly recommended for public and academic libraries. Roy H.
