CHOICE Review
This first book to cover the US Botanic Garden in Washington DC does an excellent job in providing a visual tour of the garden's sights. Writer/photographer Fallen and coauthors provide a liberal selection of large, colorful, and beautiful illustrations, along with vintage photographs documenting the history and development of the garden from its origin 150 years ago. Details of the extensive conservatory sections are illustrated with many photographs of individual specimen plants. The authors bring their expertise in photography, architectural history, and botany to this successful undertaking. Appendixes include information on reading plant labels, maps of the Botanic Garden Conservancy and Bartholdi Park, and information on the garden's leadership. Summing Up: Recommended.
