Booklist Review

\rtf1\ansi\deff0Fraud may not be the first problem to come to mind when one thinks of contemporary library issues, but it is an important topic that is all the more relevant in today's economic climate of cutbacks and ever-shrinking library budgets. This book opens with a chapter that defines fraud and explains why libraries are susceptible to it. Subsequent chapters address internal control systems, change management and fraud prevention, types of fraud, uncovering fraud, and fraud fallout. The work is well organized, clear, and focused and conveys information that is practical, accessible, and strengthened by real-life examples. The author takes particular care to make the topic applicable to many facets of library culture, and the results are satisfying and very enlightening. A fine work that contributes greatly to its field. Highly recommended for all libraries. --Sean Kinder Copyright 2006 Booklist
