He founded the Center for Group Psychotherapy at the Massachusetts General Hospital and was a cofounder of the Boston Institute for PsychotherapyWalter N. Stone, MD, is a professor of psychiatry at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He is a past president and distinguished fellow of the American Group Psychotherapy Association and is currently a board member of the International Association of Group Psychotherapy.
