Booklist Review

Now in its fifth edition, this health textbook continues its tradition of emphasizing personal choice and responsibility as keys to total health care. As in the previous editions, the book supplements solid, up-to-date information with self-tests, thought-provoking case studies, and attractive four-color pictures. In addition to sections on wellness, sexuality, substance abuse, fitness and nutrition, and current health concerns, the authors have added material on self-care, environmental health, safety, and abortion. The scope of this book is broad, but each section contains specific information that ensures complete coverage. In a gently authoritative and nonjudgmental tone, this volume encourages awareness of personal health. Highly recommended as an excellent general source of data. Further readings; index.
