Descripciones mejoradas de Syndetics:

Using material from a successful course on fuzzy logic, this book is an introduction to the theory of fuzzy sets: mathematical objects modeling the vagueness of our natural language when we describe phenomena that do not have sharply defined boundaries. The book provides background information necessary to apply fuzzy set theory in various areas, including engineering, fuzzy logic, and decision making. The exercises at the end of each chapter serve to deepen the reader's understanding of the concepts, and to test their ability to make the necessary calculations.

Includes bibliographical references and index.

CHOICE Review

Fuzzy logic is a fascinating and new approach to knowledge representation and manipulation. Although the pioneering work dates back to the 1960s, recent development in soft computing has sparked much interest in the theory and application of fuzzy logic. Nguyen and Walker have prepared an excellent introductory work to fuzzy logic and fuzzy systems. They provide a gentle approach to the subject, requiring of the reader only minimum basic college calculus for understanding. Each concept is introduced with many numerical examples to further understanding, and there are a great number of chapter exercises (solutions to many of these are also provided). This easy-to-read book lays the groundwork for further study by including fundamental concepts related to fuzzy sets, fuzzy connectives, fuzzy relations, possibility theory, fuzzy measure, and fuzzy modeling.
