CHOICE Review

Nash (Univ. of Tennessee) and Fromm, an eminent leader in the field of hypnosis and editor (with R.E. Shot) of two research works, Hypnosis (1972) and Hypnosis (1979), in this volume continue that same tradition and give overviews, written by authoritative figures, in theoretical and historical perspectives, current theory and application of hypnosis in creativity, neurophysiology of hypnosis, as well as self-hypnosis. The volume is a most up-to-date survey of the current status of hypnosis, written essentially by academicians, researchers, and clinicians in that field. It assumes a certain amount of prior knowledge but could interest any serious student. The style is succinct, clear, and in the scholarly tradition of published literature. The book raises issues as well as putting forth consensual agreements in areas where such as been the case. It should be of great interest to all in the area of hypnosis research. Professional. P. Khanna; Memphis State University
