Mayer does an excellent job of dealing with topics that most prospective college students think about but do not usually talk about. These topics include self-esteem, attitude, coping with change, and general ego-building information. A self-check (unfortunately, fill-in-the-blanks) at the end of each section may cause readers to think more about the material covered.
