Booklist Review

Organized by subject within broad grade levels, this book presents annotated bibliographies of fiction and nonfiction related to topics typically found in the elementary school science curriculum: animals, plants, the human body, earth science, space, energy and motion, and ecology. Each section ends with an annotated list of audiovisual materials, mainly computer software and videocassettes. The authors draw on their experience as teachers and library media specialists to offer detailed, creative, and practical suggestions for classroom activities relating to the annotated bibliographies provided. Librarians will find the book useful for collection building in the sciences, and whole language teachers will appreciate the detailed suggestions for individual and group projects using trade science books to enhance learning. --Carolyn Phelan
