Booklist Review

Confusion has often characterized school efforts to incorporate computers into the classroom. This timely and well-organized presentation explores questions of why, when, and how to use computers in the schools. The authors' recommendations stem from an underlying philosophy that computers are tools to improve instruction; therefore, the operant query throughout is whether a computer will teach something better and faster and whether it will teach concepts that otherwise might not be taught. Successful computer applications for a range of subjects in both elementary and high school are discussed; this will be a useful primer for systems wanting to develop coherent policies and programs. --Denise Wilms
