Descripciones mejoradas de Syndetics:

Presented in this book are a set of principles for dealing with the children of divorcing parents for mental health professionals working with the family, lawyers in family and divorce practice, and family court judges. It features the most extensive review of the literature, theory and clinical experience available on this subject, and furnishes a sound basis for understanding how separation and divorce can affect children, how to make custody assessments, and how to determine visitation rights. The book also proposes visitation guidelines for frequency of access that are based on the age of the child.

CHOICE Review

Anyone working with children of divorce will find Hodges's book useful. The writing is even and the discussions of research literature with implications for clinical intervention should be quite helpful for clinicians. Hodges is on the psychology faculty at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Of particular interest are the chapters on some of the ``newer'' areas such as mediation, visitation, and school-based intervention. Where the literature is sparse-in such areas as joint custody, postdivorce intervention, and remarriage-Hodges has managed to glean the few articles that exist from the literature. The strongest point in Hodges's text is the linking of the literature discussion with the implications for clinical intervention. Recommended for all libraries.-A. Brazer-Rush, SUNY College at Oswego
