CHOICE Review
The compilers provide a comprehensive source of statistical information on various aspects of American youths' lives: e.g., health, education, sex and marriage, problems, economic environments. Clearly constructed tables and charts present an abundance of data related to the historical and current conditions of adolescents' lives. Besides quantitative data, the volume includes qualitative data: e.g., pleasant/difficult monthly interactions with adolescents, reasons for parental discipline, adolescent identification of adults whom they respect, reasons for school attendance, musical tastes. The compilers offer a composite description of the teenagers in the US from adults' evaluations, from the young people themselves, and from reams of statistical information. An excellent addition to library shelves for support of debate teams, research papers, speech students, teachers, school administrators, social workers, or anyone with an interest in young people. It should be noted that this volume also contains much information about children (those below 13 years of age). Highly recommended. M. S. Lary North Georgia CollegeBooklist Review
