Booklist Review

Gibbons' training and experience have given her a unique perspective on the role of academic libraries in a digital world and the perceptions of our Net Gen patrons, and she has done an excellent job of researching her topic and producing a book that is a quick read for busy professionals. It is difficult to pick out examples since every chapter in the book is important. That said, the discussion on disruptive technologies in chapter 1, The Mission of an Academic Library, would be enough to recommend this book. Readers who are unfamiliar with online gaming will benefit from her explanation of why libraries need to care about this phenomenon. Gibbons has written a book that should be required reading for all academic librarians. Other libraries will also find it useful.--Crosser, Cynthia Copyright 2007 Booklist
