  <abstract>“This phenomenological study investigated the experience of six female participants, who have experienced psychotherapy and perceived to have helped or hindered the formation of the Working Alliance in therapy. With a focus provided by the phenomenological study and techniques, the six (6) participants were interviewed about what helped or hindered their building a strong working alliance, as well as what factor(s) they wished had been present that could have affected the outcome. Information was gathered through semi-structure interviews. 20 categories were generated based on the research question and dimensions of the research. The information obtained in this study was coded and analyzed using the qualitative methods. From these categories, three helping subthemes were identified: (1) Facilitated communication, (2) Trust/Non-Judgment, and (3) Accessibility. In contrast, three hindering categories were: (1) did not facilitate communication, (2) lack of understanding, (3) having multiple therapists. Three wish list categories that resulted from the analyses were: (1) facilitate more communication, (b) more accessible, and (3) Trust/ Non- judgment”.</abstract>
