Booklist Review

A tour of the world's national parks supplies a global view of wilderness treasures through National Geographic photos and stories. Along with the scenic rewards, recreation and preservation are the dual purposes these essays stress through their reviews of world parks and a longer consideration of selected national parks. The Canadian Rockies, Yellowstone in the U.S., the Soviet State Nature Reserves, and India's Ranthambhore National Park are among the featured locales. Issues of land-use policies and environmental conservation are also tied in to primarily descriptive and historical articles. Bibliography; index. --John Brosnahan
