Resumen: In the inaugural conference in 1964 of the first Concurso, "Don Eduardo" anticipated that this was the first step to an important collection of Dominican visual arts that would require a specific space to permanently exhibit it and make it accessible to the public. The Centro Cultural Eduardo León Jimenes, inaugurated in 2003 was the outcome of the altruist and visionary life work of Eduardo León Asensio continued by his 7 children. The present catalogue "not only evaluates the structure of this set of artworks, but also analyses aspects of several of the leading pieces of the collection. Furthermore, the chronological evolution that has shaped the development of the collection is explained to emphasize the significance of the Eduardo León Jimenes Art Contests (Concurso de Arte Eduardo León Jimenes) that have had in the collection itself."--Page 232.
