Well-documented and beautifully presented history of the aqueduct of San Juan tracing its history from initial planning started in 1847 through construction ending in 1898, right before the bombing and invasion by the United States during the Spanish-American War. This study is not only the history of this great feat of construction but also the history of the Puerto Rican capital city of San Juan told through the efforts to supply the city with a plentiful and reliable water source.
