Descripciones mejoradas de Syndetics:

This new book focuses on the cross-national environment that international firms face. It shows how this environment affects individual behavior, organizational behavior, and human resource management. Clearly written and concise, the book sensitizes readers to the many differences that managers face when they operate cross-nationally, and gives them tools to understand and deal with these differences.

Includes bibliographical references and index.

CHOICE Review

In a changing global environment, organizational success depends on practitioners' ability to understand what Punnett (Univ. of the West Indies) calls the "human face" of international management. Her work should be required for students in management, business, and human relations. It incorporates scholarly research with practical methods in a style that is accessible to the interested student as well as the experienced professional. The author presents a baseline understanding of the current scholarship in cultural values and then expands on the studies with overviews of critical issues for cultural competence. Topics of language, religion, geography, economics, and politics set the stage for in-depth discussions of motivation, leadership, negotiation, human resource management, and gender issues. In this new edition (1st ed., CH, Jan'05, 42-2912), Punnett explores how issues such as the economic stresses in the European Union, the Arab Spring, and global climate change have already impacted "business as usual." She explores the manner in which developing nations are becoming critical partners and leaders in the new global economy. Though designed as a comprehensive text, this volume is a fascinating read--blending scholarship and story into a challenging treatise. Summing Up: Highly recommended. Upper-division undergraduate and graduate students; professionals. T. M. Mckenzie Gonzaga University
