Descripciones mejoradas de Syndetics:

This revision of the now classic Plant Anatomy offers a completely updated review of the structure, function, and development of meristems, cells, and tissues of the plant body. The text follows a logical structure-based organization. Beginning with a general overview, chapters then cover the protoplast, cell wall, and meristems, through to phloem, periderm, and secretory structures.

"There are few more iconic texts in botany than Esau's Plant Anatomy... this 3rd edition is a very worthy successor to previous editions..." ANNALS OF BOTANY, June 2007

CHOICE Review

Katherine Esau's Plant Anatomy (1st ed., 1953), along with the more abbreviated version titled Anatomy of Seed Plants (1st ed., 1960), has been the standard text in plant anatomy for many years. Evert's book is a long-overdue revision of this outstanding standard reference and textbook. Evert (emer., Univ. of Wisconsin, Madison) has done an exemplary job of updating and revising this work. His volume focuses on meristems, cells, tissues, and the plant body. Evert's inclusion of recent advances in development and functional aspects of plant anatomy represents a much-needed addition to the classical Esau book. He has taken an excellent standard work and made it better. The only shortcoming is the exclusion of the anatomy of reproductive structures; however, this area of plant anatomy could be the subject of a separate volume. If included, it would have made this robust work too long. Like its predecessors, Esau's Plant Anatomy will serve as an important reference for students and botanists who need basic information on this subject. ^BSumming Up: Essential.
