Booklist Review

For baby boomers who are getting ready to retire or for any librarian who is still working but has an eye toward the end, this new book will be helpful in planning for and thinking about retirement. Articles by current and retired librarians and financial experts are broken into eight topics preparing for retirement, managing finances, working after retirement, exploring new roads, volunteering, maintaining good health, and relocating. Although the essays are general in nature, they bring up questions and ideas to consider and offer a nice mix of topics. For example, the essay on How to Retire Gracefully is personable, while the essay Social Security for Pre-Retirees is all business. The articles provide tips, websites, books, and checklists for help. This well-written book will help librarians think about and plan for having productive lives after the library.--Jacob, Merle Copyright 2010 Booklist
