Booklist Review

What with the unstable economy and the public's sometimes uninformed attitudes about librarians, a book on dealing with employment issues is certainly timely. Author Woodward speaks directly to the librarian reader, noting factors that are influencing the market: technology, the economy, retirement, public perception. She then offers suggestions on how to keep one's job while preparing for the worst. Next, she gives personal tips about job loss and job searching, with separate chapters on applications, resumes, and interviews. Sample resumes and interview questions, as well as more information about personal feelings (similar to the grieving process) and group advocacy, would be useful additions. The content as is can be helpful, though it would have been a generous gesture if this slim volume had been priced so those most in need of it would be able to better afford it.--Farmer, Lesle.
