Descripciones mejoradas de Syndetics:

The only current single-volume source of information on the topic. Looks at environmental and toxicity problems caused by the occurrence of organomercury compounds in the environment, including the involvement of gasoline additives, methyl and ethyl, polymers, organosilicas, and additives and catalysts. Provides a comprehensive guide to the chemical, environmental, industrial, and biogeochemical properties of the subject.

"A Wiley-Interscience publication."

CHOICE Review

Expanded industrial applications as well as increased awareness about environmental methylation of metals have greatly heightened concerns about the potential hazards of organometallic compounds. Improperly used industrial organometallics have already caused several serious poisoning incidents, including some of the most severe in history. Environmental methylation can transform inorganic metal compounds into more toxic and more mobile species. This book effectively summarizes our current knowledge of the environmental effects of organometallics. Individual chapters on important elements, such as mercury, tin, lead, arsenic, and silicon, cover the industrial uses, available toxicity data, analysis, and environmental reactions. Other chapters discuss methyl transfer processes and organometallic polymers. Focus is primarily on the metal-to-carbon bond, but selected nonmetals are also considered. Undergraduates will have difficulty with some sections, but a great deal of useful information is provided that is not readily available elsewhere. Recommended for purchase by academic libraries that support strong environmental programs.-H.E. Pence, SUNY College at Oneonta
