Descripciones mejoradas de Syndetics:

This book offers a richly inspiring look at the Holy Land today. Seventy full-color photographs take us on an authentic pilgrimage, evoking the course of Jesus' life as they trace his footsteps from Nazareth, through the desert, the area around the Sea of Galilee, and finally to Jerusalem. The reader experiences all the significant places mentioned in the Gospels and the places of worship that have been erected over the centuries to mark these sacred spots. With Jesus, the reader journeys from Nazareth and Bethlehem to Cana and Capernaum and on, eventually, to Jerusalem, the place of death and of life restored.

Translation of: Jésus en son pays.

Booklist Review

Simply and clearly, Potin verbally traces the life journey of Jesus. A wealth of sparkling color photographs of the locations, as they now appear, of the events of the gospel story proceeds in tandem with his superbly translated words. The captions for the photos often unobtrusively mention the modern uses of the places shown as well as discuss their significance in the Gospels and how they may have appeared in the first years of the Christian era. The main text gracefully adds what is known about ancient realities that goes unremarked in the New Testament and even mentions modern scholars' reservations about certain facts as reported in the Gospels. Spaciously displayed and beautifully printed, the photographs, mostly the work of Garo H. Nalbandian, are elegantly documentary rather than obviously artistic; they are the perfect complement to Potin's selfless text. For some, this lovely, originally French publication will be the most satisfying Christmas picture book of this and many another year. --Ray Olson
