The cloning of the sheep Dolly in 1997 has generated enormous controversy on the moral, ethical, and biological implications of cloning. This anthology presents a wide range of opinions on the subject from Ian Wilmut (the scientist who cloned Dolly), Richard Dawkins, Leon Kass, and other knowledgeable authors.

School Library Journal Review

Gr 10 Up-An array of opinions on a controversial issue. Each short article, essay, or excerpt has been taken from a recent publication. Writers include professors of social thought, religion, ethics, bioethics, biology, and Judeo-Christian ethics. Additional material is presented by representatives of anti-vivisection societies, embryologists, and freelance writers. The thought-provoking arguments include discussion of issues such as whether or not exceptional athletes should be permitted to market their DNA or if cloned children would grow up feeling that they were only an echo of their parent's past. Opinions on both sides of the debate are given an equal amount of space. A comprehensive list of concerned organizations and a lengthy bibliography are included. This is a valuable tool for developing critical-thinking skills and a fine source for research.-Elizabeth Stumpf, Clearfield Middle School, PA (c) Copyright 2010.
