CHOICE Review

Friedrichs presents a comprehensive review of what is known about "white collar crime" in the broadest possible sense of the term. Chapters cover governmental crime, academic crime, and state-corporate crime, as well as more conventional forms of business crime. The book is well written in a comfortable style. It is exceptionally well referenced and more than adequately indexed. The author is an established scholar and researcher, although this is his first book-length manuscript. Essentially a text, the book is nevertheless suitable for libraries serving departments of criminal justice, business, sociology, and political science because of the depth and breadth of its coverage. It is more comprehensive than other recent works, such as Marshall Clinard's Corporate Corruption: The abuse of Power (CH, Nov'90), Gary S. Green's Occupational Crime (1990), and Tony Poveda's Rethinking White-Collar Crime (CH, Jan'95). Upper-division undergraduates and above. R. T. Sigler University of Alabama
