This work addresses the ongoing focus on sexual harassment in the United States, an issue that remains at the forefront of contemporary American society.
In the 2nd edition of Sexual Harassment , compelling cases of sexual harassment in the 1990s are examined, including the highly publicized lawsuit against President Bill Clinton brought by Paula Jones, a former employee of the state of Arkansas. Conversely, readers are asked to assess a recent national debate over whether grade school children should be disciplined for "sexual harassment" when they kiss a playmate.
Sexual Harassment contains an overview, a detailed chronology, biographical sketches, primary source material, lists of print and nonprint resources, and a directory of organizations and agencies.
Includes bibliographical references and index.

Library Journal Review
This latest addition to ABC-CLIO's ``Contemporary World Issues'' series follows its standard format of a chronology, brief biographical sketches, facts and statistics, a directory of organizations, and an annotated bibliography of print and nonprint sources. Summaries of case law and the Anita Hill/Clarence Thomas hearings will be appreciated by nonspecialists. Eisaguirre's attempt to produce an objective and balanced work will likely irritate those readers who will question the inclusion of antifeminist materials and the decision to devote twice as much space to Camille Paglia's Sexual Personae (Yale Univ. Pr., 1990) and Warren Farrell's The Myth of Male Power ( LJ 8/93) as Susan Faludi's Backlash ( LJ 9/15/91). Recommended for libraries seeking a noncontroversial sourcebook on a controversial topic.-- Melody Burton, Univ. of Windsor Lib., Ontario (c) Copyright 2010. School Library Journal Review
Gr 7 Up-Eisaguirre's goal is to present all the facts and the diverse perspectives-feminist, legal, managerial, and male-that will enable students, researchers, and activists to think clearly about the subject. Legal aspects are stressed, and a brief, useful guide to case and statute research is included. A chronology stretching from Genesis to the Senator Packwood episode reflects the burgeoning importance of sexual-harassment issues at work and at school-more than half of the events and cases date from 1980 forward. Biographical sketches cover those whose careers have focused on the issue (although some with incidental involvement-Phyllis Schlafly, Catharine MacKinnon-are included because otherwise their views would be unrepresented). The ``Facts and Statistics'' chapter provides an overview of federal regulations and information on state statutes that includes time and eligibility limits and rules for administrative procedures and private lawsuits. Here, as elsewhere, readers are warned of the changing nature of that law, and are encouraged to seek updated information. Other sections summarize important cases and reproduce private and government-sponsored statistical studies on the perception, incidence, and cost of harassment. A directory lists more than 50 organizations-professional, government, and nonprofit-and nonprint resources. This clearly presented, evenhanded treatment combines the scholarly excellence of a law text with the accessibility of a lay guide; it will be indispensable to high school students both for its factual content and its suggestions for further research.-Kathleen Cotter, Brooklyn Public Library, NY (c) Copyright 2010. CHOICE Review
This entry in the "Contemporary World Issues" series provides easy access to quick information about sexual harassment. A limited chronology notes the most significant legislation, court decisions, trends, and political events. A brief biographical chapter lists important figures who have been involved in the debate about sexual harassment (e.g., Phyllis Schlafly, Catharine MacKinnon, Anita Hill). Following a listing of laws and legislation are a resource directory of organizations and a short bibliography of books, articles, and films basic to the field. M.D. McCaghy's Sexual Harassment: A Guide to Resources (CH, Jul'85) is a more comprehensive bibliography with substantive annotations, and much of the rest of the information in Eisaguirre's volume, such as biographies and laws, can be found in other sources. While Sexual Harassment is thus necessarily limited in scope, it will prove useful for undergraduates. E. Winter; California State University, Bakersfield
Booklist Review
More titles in the publisher's Contemporary World Issues series. Though all the books in this useful series follow the same general format, each offers something unique. Legalized Gambling, for example, has an extensive list of feature films with gambling themes. Campaign and Election Reform includes a compilation of fairly lengthy quotations from the Congressional Record and other sources. The fact that a number of titles in the series, including Legalized Gambling and Sexual Harassment, are now in their second editions proves that these continue to be hot topics.
