Library Journal Review

Nolla, descended from a family of poets and narrators, stands out in Puerto Rican literature. She has published six books of poetry since 1972. This novel is the parallel story of a mother (Sonia) and daughter (Mar¡a Isabel). The Miramar manuscript refers to a narrative found during the demolition of the house of the Gomez-Sabater family in the Miramar area. Hidden in an old case, the manuscript was written by Sonia Sabater. It charts Sonia and Mar¡a Isabel's adulterous sexual explorations. The manuscript serves as an instrument through which women reveal their deepest secrets. In clear and exceptional contemporary prose, Nolla charts feminine infidelity and desire.
