CHOICE Review
The 15 chapters of Semin and Fiedler's book were written by 18 professors and researchers from Europe, Canada, and the US, all of whom have both research and application backgrounds. The work is divided into four parts: general perspectives (attitudes and behavior, decisions and judgments, survey research, language in applied contexts), focal domains (health, consumers, environment, driving), social institutions (law-criminal behavior, organizations, political psychology, media), and societal issues (aggression and violence, old age, migration). Some 50 pages of reference material are provided, along with lists of suggested further reading for each of the chapters. The book will be valuable mainly as a classroom or teaching resource, principally for upper-division undergraduate students, since a basic knowledge of sociology, psychology, research methods, and statistics is needed.
