CHOICE Review

Although the title of this third edition remains the same as the previous two (1st ed., CH, Jul'94, 31-6045), everything else has changed. The work now has two editors, the chapters are arranged in five sections, and chapter authors have changed completely. The new edition has only a few additional pages but contains much more text due to the smaller type and more efficient use of page space. The editors are to be commended for selecting chapter authors who represent the leading edge of research in their various specialties. The result is a comprehensive, completely up-to-date textbook that should be ideal for fish physiology courses. It will also be useful as a reference for professionals. As in the previous edition, each chapter has its own bibliography, and there are both systematic and general indexes. This edition is an even better introduction to a complex subject. ^BSumming Up: Highly recommended. Upper-division undergraduates through faculty/researchers. J. C. Briggs emeritus, University of Georgia
