Strauss seeks to help the reader unfamiliar with the US legal system understand the characteristics and issues of the US system of administrative justice. He opens with a discussion of constitutional law matters important to the understanding of administrative law issues--both structural and individual rights matters. Strauss then turns to the machinery of government, discussing congress, the president, and the Supreme Court, with special attention to the relationships of government administrators. He is concerned primarily with matters occuring in the "ministries" of government rather than in its courts. Attention, therefore, focuses on the administrators themselves. A number of programs are described to illustrate some of the paradigmatic problems of regulation and of administrative law. Strauss finally discusses procedural forms of administrative action and considers issues of judicial oversight. Adequate index and table of cases. Recommended for university and law libraries.
