School Library Journal Review

Gr 4-7-- A well-organized look at the 1992 presidential election--the process, the candidates, and the issues. Brown also includes a brief history of the development of the two major parties and the election process. There are many full-color and black-and-white photographs and charts; bar graphs effectively show how public-opinion polls changed throughout the campaign. The events from March 1991 to November 1992 are related in a simple, chronological style, enabling readers to understand what happened and why. A good complement is George Sullivan's Campaigns and Elections (Silver Burdett, 1991), which provides a comprehensive history of presidential campaigns and tactics used by candidates in the past.-- Cynthia M.
