Gr 5-8-In a simple, concise manner, the Lees define drugs and media and discuss the ongoing relationship between them. The chapters present a variety of propaganda techniques in all phases of media, including advertising, entertainment, and news. Enhanced by dialogue scenes among teens, the text offers fact after fact to give students food for thought. Do advertisers target teenagers? Do magazines report dangers? How do entertainment and news persuade? The writing style and print size will appeal to reluctant readers. The black-and-white and full-color photographs, however, are a little hokey, and, in some cases, dated.
