Booklist Review

The author offers a solid overview of the nation's serious drinking/driving problem, looking at teenage offenders and victims in particular. She covers the reasons teens drink and drive, stating that ``in one survey after another, young people cite peer pressure as the primary reason.'' Though the account is full of statistics, many are not well documented. She also covers the effect of alcohol and drugs on the body, including alcoholism, and discusses the effectiveness of drunk-driving and minimum-drinking-age laws as well as of drug-prevention programs (SADD, for example) that provide positive peer pressure. Some pointed anti-drunk-driving posters are included. Index. Gr. 7-10. SE. 363.1'251 Drunk driving / Drug abuse / Alcohol [CIP] 87-27733
